Fabrizio Romano has said Liverpool were offered the chance to sign Evan Ndicka, with the French centre-back ultimately joining AS Roma.
Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, the Italian transfer guru revealed that the 23-year-old defender was offered to Liverpool as a potential summer signing, with Ndicka leaving Eintracht Frankfurt as a free agent at the end of last season.
Despite some tentative links to Liverpool, Ndicka never really felt like a true target for the Anfield side this summer. However, Romano’s latest comments seem to indicate that there was a chance for the French superstar to join the Merseyside giants for free.

Indeed, Ndicka could have solved a major issue for Liverpool in their hunt for a left-sided central defender. However, for one reason or another, the former Bundesliga star was rejected by the Reds, with the centre-back instead deciding to join Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
Romano said: “In the second part of this market, I think they will look at the centre-backs market, a left-footed centre-back. Evan Ndicka was offered to Liverpool but they decided against it and he’s now joining Roma. So there were some possibilities, and I think Liverpool will explore the centre-back market.”
Liverpool could soon regret passing up on Ndicka signing

Liverpool could leave signing a central defender this summer until last on their agenda for the window, and given how ideal Ndicka would have been for Jurgen Klopp’s side, rejecting the Frenchman could be viewed as a bad mistake in the coming weeks.
As we know, Ndicka was one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga last season and is still fairly young for a player in the position at 23. And for Liverpool, signing a player like the former Frankfurt star for free could have been an opportunity that was too good to pass up, much to Roma’s enjoyment.
