Fabrizio Romano has said Liverpool have made an enquiry to sign Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia, who is expected to return to the Premier League this summer.

Taking to Twitter, the Italian journalist revealed that the Reds have asked the Saints about what conditions they want in regards to a deal for Lavia, with Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea also chasing the Belgian youngster after Southampton’s relegation from the top-flight.

Reportedly valued at £50m, Lavia was one of the best young players in the Premier League last season despite going down with Southampton to the Championship. And Liverpool now look ready to launch an official bid for the former Manchester City wonderkid.

Central midfield is a position the Reds are trying to overhaul this summer, and whilst there have been links to the likes of Khephren Thuram and Gabri Veiga, Lavia could be an even better addition for Jurgen Klopp given his experience already in the Premier League.

Lavia’s stock has risen considerably in the last 12 months since his move to Southampton, and for Liverpool, the Belgian teenager could be a dream addition for the club if they can beat some tough opposition in Arsenal and United this summer.

Indeed, Lavia was a sensation in the Premier League for the Saints, and at a better club with a strong structure like Liverpool, there’s no telling how far the midfielder could go, with Anfield the ideal destination for a promising player like the former City wonderkid.
