Fenerbahce are reportedly scrambling to sign Arda Guler to a new contract, with Liverpool one of the clubs interested in signing the 18-year-old talent.

TeamTalk claim that the Turkish giants are working to tie the winger to fresh terms that will ensure that Guler stays at Fenerbahce for one more season as well as increasing the size of his release clause, which currently stands at around £15m.

As per the report, Liverpool are interested in signing Guler as well as the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City and Newcastle United, who have all scouted the playmaker after a breakout year for both Fener and the Turkish national team.

Regarded as one of the best talents in all of Europe, Guler looks primed to make a big move this summer. However, with Fenerbahce now at work to sign the youngster to a new contract, Liverpool could be blocked in their attempt to recruit the 18-year-old superstar.

Indeed, the Reds have been tipped as an ideal next destination for Guler given their UEFA Europa League status and Jurgen Klopp’s ability to develop young players. However, none of that means anything if Fenerbahce succeeds in renewing the winger’s contract.

Guler is clearly ready for the next step in his career, and whilst Liverpool might feel confident in signing the Turkish winger, Fenerbahce could prove to be a roadblock in the youngster’s potential move to Anfield. Which is why the teenager rejecting a new contract would be a dream scenario for the Reds.

As we know, signing Guler for just £15m would be quite the coup for Liverpool. And if the winger was to turn down a new deal from Fenerbahce, the Anfield side could be in the clear to bring the wonderkid to the Premier League, where he could dominate for years to come.
