Liverpool could reportedly face the prospect of missing out on Gabri Veiga, with the Spanish youngster now in talks with other clubs over a potential move.

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Celta Vigo talent has been in discussions with rivals sides having already been in talks with Liverpool, who only recently looked like the strong favourites to sign the 21-year-old midfielder.

With a release clause of €40m (£34m), Veiga should be a relatively easy deal to conclude given how low the 21-year-old’s exit fee is and how desperate Liverpool are this summer to add midfielders to their squad. Yet with the U-21 Euros currently taking pace, a transfer has been put on ice.

Indeed, Liverpool are likely aware that Veiga will be in talks with other clubs this summer. Yet with news out there that discussions are taking place, this update could give the Reds the kick they need to wrap up a deal for the La Liga prospect, who could be a great arrival for the Anfield giants.

Veiga’s stock seems to be rising with each passing week, and for Liverpool, the time is now for the Merseyside giants to wrap up a deal for the Spanish youth international as rival clubs continue to hold discussions with the Celta Vigo wonderkid.

Whilst the U-21 Euros are a massive roadblock for Liverpool, the Reds have the finances and the power to push through this obstacle and to get the deal done, with Veiga simply a talent too good for Jurgen Klopp’s side to miss out on in this summer transfer window.
