Liverpool have now made a promise to ‘special’ player, after getting in touch with his agent

Liverpool have promised to give Federico Chiesa a wage increase if he joins them this summer.

Chiesa has emerged as a surprise target for the Reds as they ponder upgrading their forward line. And as they reportedly weigh up a bid for the Juventus man, Sport Mediaset claim that they’ve now been in touch with his agent.

The Italian outlet report that Liverpool have already made ‘first contact’ with Chiesa’s representative Fali Ramadani. When speaking with Ramadani, the Reds are said to have made a ‘guarantee’ to the 25-year-old that they’d offer him a salary Juventus simply cannot.

While Liverpool make promises to Chiesa, West Ham and Newcastle are also reportedly keen on signing him. However, the Italy international is claimed to be uninterested in a move to either.

A transfer would supposedly set the Reds back between £43-51m. It’s claimed that this wouldn’t line the Juve coffers like the potential sale of Dusan Vlahovic, but would important to them all the same.

Liverpool make Chiesa promise

According to Salary Sport, Chiesa is on 54k-a-week at Juventus. If that really is the case, then Liverpool would comfortably be able to up his salary.

Should he join the Reds though, he wouldn’t be doing so as an immediate starter. Jurgen Klopp has plenty of other top class forwards and the Euro 2020 winner would have to prove himself.

As a result, he shouldn’t expect a wage in-line with the likes of Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz and certainly not Mohamed Salah.

Nevertheless, Liverpool could surely make a move worth his while without breaking the bank.

In terms of a transfer fee, it also doesn’t look like a budget buster for the Reds. A new attacker certainly isn’t their priority this summer, but for a player as potentially good as Chiesa, they may make an exception.

It is true that he hasn’t been showing his best form of late. But he’s still a player who was called ‘really special’ by the legendary Gigi Buffon [Gazzetta dello Sport] not all that long ago. That’s someone well worth having in the squad.
