Napoli have reportedly made a move to sign Celta Vigo midfielder Gabri Veiga, with Liverpool heavily interested in the Spanish youth international.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Serie A champions are keen on adding the 21-year-old to their ranks this summer ahead of Piotr Zielinski’s departure from Naples, with Veiga one of many players Napoli are now considering to replace the Polish midfielder.
As per the report, Celta Vigo will only sell Veiga if a club matches his €40m (£34m) release clause, something Napoli are currently unwilling to do with their current finances, unlike Liverpool, who could be ready to trigger this option in the coming weeks.

TeamTalk reported last month that Liverpool have been tracking Veiga for some time, with Jurgen Klopp personally a big fan of the La Liga talent. And after the U-21 Euros, the Reds could look to make a bid for the youngster with Napoli now interested.
Indeed, Liverpool have the financial muscle to activate Veiga’s release clause. Though with the Anfield side taking their time to make a real move for the Celta Vigo star, Napoli could use the opportunity to couple their pennies together and launch an attempt to bring the 21-year-old to southern Italy.
Liverpool have to be wary of Napoli’s interest in Veiga

Veiga is one of Europe’s most in-demand players already this summer. And whilst the Premier League is the most likely destination for the midfielder, Liverpool have to be wary of what Napoli can do if they are to make an official move for the youngster.
As we know, Napoli head into the new season as the reigning Serie A champions and a club that will have ambitions of retaining their title as well as competing in Europe. And for Veiga, this could be an appealing project, especially with Liverpool not taking part in the UEFA Champions League
