Jurgen Klopp has become the focus of a national campaign in Germany to take over as the national team manager ahead of Euro 2024 next summer.

Bild have taken it upon themselves to push for the Liverpool manager to succeed Hansi Flick as head coach of Die Mannschaft after last night’s 2-0 loss to Colombia, with the former Bayern Munich boss winning just half of his 24 games in charge of Germany, claiming victory just four times in his 17 fixtures.

With Germany hosting the Euros next year, fans and pundits are eager for the four-time FIFA World Cup winners to go all the way to win their first piece of silverware since 2014. And Bild have now started a national campaign to get Klopp in the hot seat for the competition.

The Liverpool boss is no stranger to links with the Germany job, with Klopp widely considered as the best coach the country has produced this century. Yet despite success with the Reds and Borussia Dortmund, the 56-year-old is yet to take over the national team.

Indeed, with Klopp committed to Liverpool until 2025, it feels fanciful that the Premier League manager will quit Anfield for a shot at Germany for next year’s Euros. And this latest campaign from Bild will only leave the newspaper with egg of their faces in the weeks to come.

Klopp leaving Liverpool to take over Germany is a pipedream for Bild

Bild’s ambition is clearly in the right place, with Germany in a poor position if they want to compete at next summer’s European champions as Flick continues to lose fans. Yet appointing Klopp is nothing short of a fantasy in the next 12 months.

As we know, Klopp has a contract with Liverpool until 2025, and with the Reds spending big this summer on the next generation of the club, the German manager has no real reason to depart Anfield when he is the current figurehead of the entire organisation.
