Federico Valverde has dismissed claims that he leave Real Madrid this summer after reports emerges that Liverpool were interested in the Uruguay international.
Speaking to ESPN, the 24-year-old midfielder flat-out rejected the idea that he will leave Madrid this summer, with Valverde saying when asked about a potential move: “No, no. I’m at Madrid and I’m trying to enjoy every moment and leave my mark on the best club in the world. I want to keep winning titles for the Real Madrid fans.”
As per 90min, rumours have surfaced in recent days linking Valverde to the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea. However, the South American superstar has not shot down these reports ahead of the upcoming season with Madrid, where the midfielder is expected to play a key role.
Whilst a move to Liverpool could have been possible, Valverde’s role at Madrid means that the Uruguayan was never going to quit Los Blancos for any other side in Europe, especially with the Spanish giants signing Jude Bellingham ahead of the Reds.
Indeed, Valverde would have been a perfect midfielder for Liverpool as the Anfield side look to overhaul their options this summer. Yet the 24-year-old has done everyone a service by addressing the rumours so early on in the transfer window.

Valverde took his game to a whole new level last season with Madrid as one of the best midfielders in Europe. And whilst a move to Liverpool would have been a game-changer, we all know such a transfer is more rooted in fantasy than any real truth.
Although Liverpool have the pull to bring in any player they want, luring a 24-year-old starter from Madrid is a rare breed that no club in the world can attract no matter the cost, and Valverde making his thoughts known has saved everyone a lot of time.
