Liverpool defender Andy Robertson has claimed that Scotland are building something ‘unique’ in international football.
The Scots pulled off an upset on Saturday, beating Erling Haaland’s Norway 2-1 in Oslo. The result puts them top of their Euro 2024 qualifying group with three wins out of three.
And speaking to Viaplay after yesterday’s game, Robertson insisted that the atmosphere within the Scotland squad was crucial to their run of wins.

“The team spirit is second to none, it’s so good,” raved the 29-year-old. “Coming into camp, the feeling we’ve got around the camp, how close we are with all the staff, it’s amazing. To create that within international football is probably quite unique, and we’ve got it.
“We always socialise, we always get together, we always try and do as much as we can as a country and I think you’re seeing that on the pitch. Now we’ve got relationships on the pitch that you can see all over and that’s why we’re making improvements.”
Robbo leads Scotland into new era
Although there are obvious issues with games of football still going on right now, it’s great to see Robbo succeeding with Scotland.
The Reds full-back is of course his country’s captain and leader. But he hasn’t always been universally popular, with his displays for his nation often being negatively compared to his performances for Liverpool.
It may be the case that Robertson is still more impressive for his club than his country. But few can deny that the £10m signing from Hull City is leading his country into a bold new era.

Prior to Euro 2020, Scotland hadn’t been to a major tournament for 22 years. A whole generation.
Having secured their place at the showpiece two years ago however, they now look on course to repeat the trick for next summer’s tournament.
Yes, they missed out on a World Cup in-between, but they’re making big steps.
That isn’t all down to Robertson, as he’d be the first to admit. The Reds No.26 does have an elite mindset though, fostered from playing with top players at Anfield for six years now. It sounds like he’s taken some of that and transported it into the Scotland camp. And we couldn’t be happier for him. Go on, Robbo!
