Liverpool are very interested in signing 17-year-old PSG prospect Warren Zaire-Emery this summer.
Zaire-Emery was one of the breakout stars of the 22/23 Ligue 1 season, playing 26 times for the French champions. When you consider the kind of talent in the PSG side, that’s very impressive indeed. And according to RMC Sport, the youngster’s emergence hasn’t gone unnoticed. Not by a long stretch.
They claim that, unfortunately, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola is the most interested of all. With PSG looking to sign Bernardo Silva from City, Pep will reportedly ask for Zaire-Emery in exchange. The Parisians are claimed to be ready to knock back these attempts though, believing their starlet to be ‘untransferable.’

Interestingly however, Zaire-Emery reportedly may not feel the same. The midfielder is said to be ‘watching carefully’ what PSG do in the market, with Manuel Ugarte set to join from Sporting.
The suggestion is that this could upset Zaire-Emery, who is said to place his development above all. Now entering the final two years of his contract in Paris, things could potentially be at a delicate crossroads.
This has reportedly led to interest from both Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund, as well as City. PSG sporting director Luis Campos is said to have ‘brought out the barbed wire’ for Zaire-Emery though, with no intention to sell him. We’ve a feeling this might not be the last we’ve heard of this.
Liverpool looking to soften Bellingham blow
As Liverpool look to recover from the blow of losing Jude Bellingham to Real Madrid, Zaire-Emery could be a genuine option.
After all, how often do you see a 17-year-old starting games for one of the biggest sides on the continent? Bellingham was doing it, but not many others achieve that level so quickly.
Zaire-Emery has, though. Just eight of his 26 Ligue 1 games may have been starts last season, but it’s worth bearing in mind that he only turned 17 in March.

Nothing will be straightforward with City in the picture. It also doesn’t help that PSG don’t want to lose him. Dortmund obviously have form with these kinds of players too, so Liverpool may be an outsider here.
But the Reds could potentially offer young Zaire-Emery the chance to instantly become a semi-regular starter. City won’t be able to offer that, and with Ugarte coming in, PSG probably can’t either.
Dortmund could, and can also offer Champions League football this season, but Liverpool should still be an appealing prospect.
For our money, the Reds are more likely to focus on more established players for their midfield. But if they’re feeling like thinking a little outside the box and betting big on young talent, then Zaire-Emery could be an exciting option.
