Ibrahima Konate has made an indirect plea for France teammate Khephren Thuram to sign for Liverpool, with the youngster linked with a move to Anfield.

Speaking to RMC Sport, the centre-back lauded his international colleague after a sensational year with OGC Nice as well as breaking into Didier Deschamps Les Bleus’ set-up. And as a result, Thuram is now due a big move this summer to one of Europe’s elite.

As per the Guardian, Liverpool are one of many sides tracking the £50m-rated Ligue 1 star this summer, and the midfielder’s chances of moving to Merseyside could now be boosted after what Konate has said on Thuram’s attitude and his ability.

The Liverpool titan said: “Khephren is like my little brother, he’s someone I saw growing up. I was with his big brother at the training centre, but I saw Khephren grow. I saw him perform and progress to a level. It was incredible. Even when he came to the France team for his first selection.

“I saw him in training and I was really surprised by his size and his technical ease. I would be very happy for him to come to Liverpool, I would take him under my wing and I would do everything for him to progress and become the player he wants to become. Now it is also up to him to work. But I would do anything for him to become a top player.”

Liverpool’s interest in Thuram has been well documented already this summer, and whilst the impact of one player can only go so far, Konate’s words on his France teammate could be a catalyst for the Reds to make a move for the Nice superstar.

As we know, Liverpool are keen to add to their midfield ranks this window, and with Thuram already an all-round player who can only get better in the Premier League, the 22-year-old ticks a lot of boxes for what the Reds want in a new signing this summer.
