Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has clarified that he doesn’t want to sell Benjamin Pavard this summer despite growing links that Liverpool are interested in the defender.
Speaking to BILD TV, the Bundesliga official revealed that he would like the 27-year-old centre-back to continue his career at Bayern. This coming after the news that Pavard wants to leave Bavaria this summer for a new chapter in a different division.
And one club who have been strongly linked with a move for Pavard in recent weeks is Liverpool, with the Reds eyeing the French international as a centre-back option as well as real cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold in the right-back position.

Indeed, Pavard is arguably the perfect defensive signing for Liverpool this summer given his unique traits. Yet for Bayern’s president, he is keen to keep hold of the French international this window despite claims from the player’s camp that he wants to leave in the coming weeks.
Hainer said on recent interest in Pavard and whether or not the defender will leave Bayern this summer: “There are rumours about FC Bayern every day. Because our players are popular. Pavard has shown very good performances and we’d like to continue with him.”
Liverpool should disregard Hainer’s quotes and move in for Pavard

Club presidents are hardly the most reliable source when it comes to the future of a player, and for Liverpool, they should look to disregard Hainer’s recent quotes and make an honest attempt for Pavard, who could cost just £34m according to some reports.
As we know, Liverpool are in need of a hybrid defender more than any club in Europe this summer, and with Pavard the perfect candidate for such a niche position, the Reds stand to lose nothing if they make a move for the French international in the coming weeks.
