Aston Villa have reportedly joined the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone, with Liverpool also interested in the youngster.
According to the Daily Mail, Unai Emery’s side, alongside Wolves, are chasing the 22-year-old Frenchman as Kone looks primed to leave the Bundesliga this summer, with Gladbach believed to value the talent as highly as £35m.
As per the report, Liverpool are also interested in signing Kone as Jurgen Klopp looks to recruit two more midfielders to add alongside the arrival of Alexis Mac Allister. However, the Reds’ pursuit for the former Toulouse wonderkid could now be halted by Villa.

Emery is preparing to take the Villians on their first European adventure in over a decade next season, and as a result, Villa are now more than capable of attracting the likes of Kone to the Premier League this summer, much to Liverpool’s dismay.
Indeed, the Reds could move fast to beat Villa to Kone’s signature. But given how good the Villa Park side are at securing signings from out of nowhere, Liverpool could have met their match in the market with Emery, who could land the Frenchman in the coming days.
Liverpool might have to roll up their sleeves to beat Villa to Kone

Kone’s form over the last two seasons for Gladbach has rightly put the midfielder in the category of one of the most exciting talents in Germany. And whilst interest from Liverpool’s end seems to be waning, the Reds will be doing themselves a massive favour in beating Villa to the 22-year-old.
As we know, Liverpool need more midfield signings, ideally before the start of pre-season next month. And Kone ticks a lot of boxes for what Klopp would like in a new addition this summer, yet interest from Villa could see this potential move quashed before it even got rolling.
