Micky van de Ven has teased that he could leave VfL Wolfsburg this summer, with Liverpool reportedly interested in the Dutch defender.

Speaking to ESPN, the Bundesliga star stated that whilst he feels happy in Germany with Wolfsburg, he would be open to leaving if the right offer comes in, with Liverpool interested in signing Van de Ven as reported by the Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung.

Van de Ven was one of the breakout stars of the 2022/23 season, and with Liverpool on the hunt for a new central defender this summer, the 22-year-old centre-back has emerged as an option for the Reds, with Jorg Schmadtke a big fan of the Dutchman.

A deal to bring the defender to Anfield could be concluded soon, and according to Van den Ven himself, he could be open to a move. The Wolfsburg man said: “I am very good at Wolfsburg, so I don’t mind staying at Wolfsburg for another year. But if I get a chance to leave, I would like to.

“Of course, I read everything (the speculation). I have good contact with my agent, so I know what’s going on. I’ll see where it will lead. A move after the Euros would be nice. The Premier League? Maybe, yes. Who knows.”

With an asking price of £34m, Van de Ven could prove himself to be quite the signing for Liverpool. And with the player himself now stating publically that he could be open to a move this summer, the Reds have to move quickly to bring the Bundesliga star to Merseyside.

Indeed, at 22, Van de Ven is very much at the start of his footballing career. And with Liverpool undergoing a transition under Jurgen Klopp, the Dutch defender could be the perfect defensive signing to hail in this new era at Anfield.
