Liverpool reportedly still like Levi Colwill despite Chelsea already stating that the England youth international is not for sale.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Reds remain interested in the 20-year-old defender, who this window has already been subject to a £30m transfer offer from Brighton & Hove Albion, a bid that Chelsea swiftly rejected.

Colwill was one of the best young defenders in the Premier League last season, and with the centre-back not guaranteed a starting spot under Mauricio Pochettino next term, there’s every chance that the Liverpool target could be on the move this summer.

As per the report, the Reds are on the hunt for a young defender this window, particularly one who is left-footed. And Colwill fits the bill perfectly for Liverpool, though Chelsea’s reluctance to offload the defender is proving to be a massive roadblock.

Indeed, there’s every chance that Colwill could push for an exit as the summer progresses and it becomes evident that Pochettino prefers other players in Chelsea’s squad. And should such an outcome happen, Liverpool have to be there to strike for the defender.

Colwill has all the quality and potential to become a world-class defender if given the right platform to develop and to thrive in the correct environment. And Liverpool can provide just that for the Chelsea centre-back, where a transfer this summer could be a match made in heaven.

As we know, Jurgen Klopp has perfected the craft of developing players to fit his style of play and to flourish for Liverpool. And Colwill could do just that if the Reds can break Chelsea’s resolve over the youngster, one that the player himself could break.
