Liverpool are reportedly one of the leading candidates to sign Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard, with the France international expected to be on the move this summer.
According to journalist Christian Falk, the Anfield side are hot on the 27-year-old’s trail as Pavard looks set to leave Bavaria for a new challenge, with Liverpool and FC Barcelona the two clubs who are set to battle it out for the Bayern defender.
Able to play both right-back and centre-back, it’s clear why Liverpool are so interested in a move for Pavard, with the defender potentially the missing key to resolving Jurgen Klopp’s defence and to push Trent Alexander-Arnold fully into his new inverted fullback role.

Given how specific a signing Liverpool need for the defence, Pavard fits the bill to a tee. And the Reds now seem to be one of the leading clubs for the Bayern man, who could be a perfect summer signing for the Premier League giants.
Falk said on Liverpool’s interest: “Benjamin Pavard has informed the club that he wants to move in the summer. His agents are already talking to other clubs. Among them, Liverpool is now a hot candidate. Previously, Chelsea and Barcelona were already known to be interested, as well as Italian clubs AC and Inter Milan.”
Liverpool have to do all they can to sign Pavard this summer

Pavard’s unique traits has made the Frenchman a player in demand this summer, and for Liverpool, the Reds are aware that they are the ideal suitors for the Bundesliga defender. And as a result, a move has to be on the cards in the coming weeks.
Time is of the essence for Liverpool to conclude a deal for Pavard, and with rival clubs already interested in the Bayern superstar, Klopp and his team have to work fast if they’re to secure the 27-year-old’s signature as their marquee defensive signing.
