Don Hutchinson has said that Liverpool could do with Declan Rice this summer but in his opinion, it’s just not going to happen.
Rice is in-demand heading into the summer window officially opening. The West Ham star is wanted by Arsenal and Chelsea, with the Gunners believed to be leading the race as it stands.
Of course, Liverpool need new midfielders too. And after signing Alexis Mac Allister, they’re expected to go for a number of other new faces.

Liverpool won’t be signing Declan Rice
While the Reds do hold an interest in Rice, former Everton man Hutchinson – speaking to ESPN – believes it’s just not going to happen.
Instead, the thinks Chelsea are an option, although he believes Rice has the quality to play anywhere he wants.
“It won’t happen, but Liverpool is an obvious one because they need that profile and that player with dynamism in midfield. A real leader. He was one of the leaders on the pitch in the (Europa Conference League) final,” Hutchinson said.
“He didn’t have his best game, but when Cristiano Biragi was getting pelted, he was the first one over to the West Ham fans telling them to ‘calm down’ and it was bang out of order at what they had done. I think, in terms of ability, he can go anywhere – Chelsea is also a possibility.”
RTK’s View: Perfect midfielder
The price tag West Ham have put on Rice means there’s no way we will be in the mix as it stands. We pulled out of the Bellingham race due to money and this one is similar.
But allow us to just dream for a second. Declan Rice is the perfect Liverpool midfielder. He has a bit of everything in his game. He’s dynamic, good with the ball, and builds an affinity with supporters.
In an ideal world he’d be the best signing the Reds could make. Sadly, it looks like we won’t be in the mix and as Hutchinson says, Rice will have the pick of the bunch really.
