Liverpool ready to offer £34m player big wages to sign him, Real Madrid thought he was too expensive

Liverpool are ready to trump rival bidders and offer Gabri Veiga a huge salary if he signs for them.

Veiga looks like being one of the top names on Liverpool’s short list this summer, as they aim to right the wrongs of last season. But they’re not the only club interested. Now, according to Spanish outlet Sport, the battle to sign the 20-year-old is about to get underway.

With Newcastle United, Chelsea and Liverpool said to be poised, Veiga is reportedly closer than ever to the Premier League. All three clubs are claimed to have no trouble meeting the Celta Vigo man’s £34m release clause.

The same can’t be said of Real Madrid, who are also reportedly keen on Veiga. But while the English trio are ready to offer full price and big wages to the player, Madrid see his value as being ‘excessive.’ Instead, Los Blancos will supposedly offer a player or two in exchange for Veiga.

There are no such qualms from Liverpool, who have reportedly ‘insisted’ on the Spaniard since missing out on Jude Bellingham. As they encounter fierce competition for Veiga, the Reds are said to be ready to offer significantly more wages than any other side.

Veiga set to make his choice

Veiga’s contract contains a fairly modest release clause – in Premier League terms anyway. So, as a result, this battle will be won in the fine print of a contract offer.

Used to going up against rivals for players, Liverpool won’t be phased by that. The Reds are well-known to offer pretty good wage packets.

Besides, with Jurgen Klopp driving the bus, they’ve convinced players better than Veiga to snub rivals and sign for them.

That’s to mean no disrespect to Veiga, who looks like he could be one of the continent’s rising stars. But at twenty, his potential is yet to be realised. He needs to decide where the best place is for him to make sure that it is.

Is it at Chelsea, who appear to have no coherent plan of what to do with any of their players? Perhaps it’s at Newcastle, who can offer Champions League football, but don’t boast the quality of potential teammate or management that other sides do.

Maybe he’ll feel it’s at Real Madrid. The ultimate for many Spanish players and probably the biggest club in the world. Madrid are on the verge of signing Bellingham to go with their glut of top midfielders though, surely Veiga isn’t getting in that team.

That leaves just one choice: Liverpool. It really does make the most sense. There you go Gabri, sorted.
