Fabrizio Romano has detailed Liverpool’s interest in Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes, with the Reds chasing the Brazilian despite their slim chances of landing the midfielder.
Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, the Italian journalist revealed that the Anfield side are keeping tabs on Guimaraes and that Liverpool do like the player. However, a deal would be virtually impossible this summer given how prized the midfielder is at Newcastle.
With FC Barcelona also interested in Guimaraes, the Magpies superstar is firmly a man in demand this window. And with Liverpool also chasing the 25-year-old, Newcastle in other years might have been tempted to cash in on the South American to help fund the squad.

However, this Newcastle is now an entirely different beast under the PIF regime. And whilst Guimaraes could be tempted with a move to Liverpool, the transfer guru stated that the odds of such a transfer happening this summer are next to zero.
Romano said: “Newcastle want to offer a new deal to Bruno Guimaraes because they know that big clubs around Europe are tracking the player. It is true that Liverpool like the player, but they know a deal will be almost impossible this summer, the same with Barcelona, but it will be very complicated to sign Bruno Guimaraes this summer.”
Liverpool are dreaming if they think they can sign Guimaraes this summer

Liverpool’s lack of UEFA Champions League football next season has deeply hit what the Anfield side can and can’t do this summer. Yet had the Reds even made top-four, their chances of signing Guimaraes would still remain slim given just how important the midfielder is for the Magpies.
With the Brazilian reportedly in talks over signing a new contract, it could be some time before Liverpool ever has a realistic chance to sign Guimaraes. And this summer, especially, will likely see the Merseyside giants fail completely in any attempt to land the Brazilian.
