Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Markus Krosche reportedly rejected an approach from Liverpool before Jorg Schmadtke’s appointment, with Bayer Munich now interested.
According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Bundesliga official turned down both the Reds and Tottenham due to how unclear his position at either Premier League side will be, with Krosche now wanted by Bayern to take over as sporting director.
Liverpool confirmed the appointment of Schmadtke this week, bringing an end to the Merseyside club’s sporting director hunt after Julian Ward announced his departure from the club this year. Though it appears that Krosche was a previous target.
The 42-year-old has often been credited as the mastermind behind Frankfurt’s incredible rise in both the Bundesliga and in Europe. Yet with Krosche now rejecting an approach from Liverpool, the sporting director could now be free to move to Bayern to assist with their rebuild.
Liverpool could soon regret Krosche approach if he joins Bayern

Krosche’s reputation as one of the best up-and-coming sporting directors in Europe speaks for itself, and with the German rejecting Liverpool, the Reds could soon be kicking themselves should the Frankfurt figure decide to take the job at Bayern this summer.
As we know, Liverpool only appointed Schmadtke on a short-term deal, and with Krosche an ideal alternative to the Reds’ new sporting director, the Frankfurt official joining Bayern could be a blow for the Anfield side when the time comes to find another transfer guru.
