Liverpool youngster Leighton Clarkson has admitted that he expects to be loaned out again next season after an incredible year out in Scotland with Aberdeen.
Speaking to the Press and Journal, the 21-year-old midfielder hinted that would be open on a return to the Dons having played a key role in qualifying for Europe next season, though the report states that clubs in England are already interested in signing Clarkson on loan.
The England youth international made an impressive 38 appearances in all competitions for Aberdeen, scoring six and assisting nine as the Scottish side finished in a European spot, booking their place in the qualifications stage for the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Indeed, a return to Aberdeen will make a lot of sense for Clarkson next season. And when asked about his transfer plans for the summer, the Liverpool youngster hinted that he could return to Pittodrie if the decision was up to him this window.
Clarkson said: “I’ve told agents and stuff ‘don’t even tell me about interest’, because I just wanted to get Europe for Aberdeen. “Now we’ve done that I can start thinking while I’m away on holiday. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. If everything was to be right, and a lot of it is out of my control, it’s a really high possibility that I could be (back).”
Liverpool should fulfil Clarkson’s request and loan him back to Aberdeen

Clarkson has enjoyed an incredible loan spell with Aberdeen this season, and whilst a move to and English side would make sense, League One or even the Championship won’t match the European experience that the midfielder could experience if he was to return to the Dons.
Having played such a key role in getting Aberdeen back into Europe, Clarkson could again take Barry Robson’s side to new heights if Liverpool allow the youngster to return to Scotland, a move that would seemingly benefit every party involved in such a deal.
