Ligue 1 pundit Matheiu Bodmer has urged Montpellier wonderkid Elye Wahi to stay in France amid recent interest from Liverpool.
Speaking to Amazon Prime, the former PSG star stated that the French U-20 international would be better off remaining in his homeland for one more season despite the likes of Liverpool being linked with Wahi, who this season has been in spectacular form.
The 20-year-old has this season bagged 17 goals in Ligue 1, including four in a single match in an outstanding 5-4 defeat against Olympique Lyonnais, And according to Made In Monegasque, Liverpool have recently scouted Wahi ahead of the summer transfer window.

Indeed, Wahi is on the path to becoming one of the best attackers in world football. Yet according to Bodmer, the youngster should remain in France to continue his development. The pundit said: “It’s been two amazing seasons. At the age of 20, for me, he already has everything to become a great striker.
“On the surface, he has composure, he is calm, he has end-product. He is capable of scoring extraordinary goals, goals on his own, sharp finishes too. That skill is priceless. In my opinion, I would like him to stay in France. Will French clubs pay for him? I don’t know.”
Liverpool should heed Bodmer’s warning and move for Wahi next year

Wahi has enjoyed a dream season for a player of his age, and for Liverpool, there will be an eagerness to sign the Montpellier superstar as early as possible. However, given how stacked the Anfield side are in the attack, waiting a year could be for the best.
Moreover, with Wahi valued at £26m according to Foot Mercato, Liverpool can afford to miss out on the striker this year should he decide to remain in France, though there is always a chance that rival clubs can come in this summer for the Ligue 1 wonderkid.
