Torino defender Perr Schuurs is reportedly set to stay with the Serie A club this summer despite strong rumours in recent months linking the centre-back with a move to Liverpool.
According to Tuttosport, the 23-year-old has made it clear that he wants to stay in Turin for at least one more season after a breakout year in Italy, with Schuurs now a target for Liverpool after impressing for Torino this campaign.
TuttoMercatoWeb have previously stated that the Anfield side views the former Ajax talent as a potential successor to Virgil van Dijk due to Schuurs’ similarities to the Liverpool titan. However, a move is now unlikely to happen this summer.

With Torino set for a top-ten finish, it makes sense why Schuurs could be keen on remaining with the Italian club for one more year given how close they came to qualifying for European, and for the player himself, an extra year of regular football could work wonders for his development.
As a result, Schuurs could be making the best decision possible in remaining with Torino for another season, with the centre-back likely to become an even better player 12 months on from now as Liverpool will likely remain interested in the 23-year-old come 2024.
Schuurs staying with Torino could prove to be an incredible decision

Schuurs without question has the quality now to play for Liverpool and to provide good backup for the likes of Van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate, yet another year in Serie A could take the Dutchman from someone who will just sit on the bench at Liverpool to being in with a shot of starting for the Reds.
As we know, a centre-back who could one day replace Van Dijk is of the upmost importance for Liverpool, and Schuurs could become that player for the Anfield side, especially if he remains in Turin to get one more year of top-flight experience under his belt.
