Liverpool are reportedly considering a move for Ajax’s Mohammed Kudus with Manchester United set to launch a bid to sign Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.
Football Transfers claim that the Ghana talent could be an alternative for Liverpool should they miss out on the 24-year-old Premier League playmaker, with Mount being viewed as one of Jurgen Klopp’s main midfield targets heading into this summer.
However, as reported by the Daily Mail, United have now entered the picture for Mount, with Erik Ten Hag’s side now even ready to make an opening offer to sign the England international, a decision that could see Liverpool move on from the Chelsea man and onto Kudus.
Valued at £40m according to the Athletic, Kudus is widely expected to leave Ajax this summer, and Liverpool could now make a move for the 22-year-old, though the youngster in recent years has developed into an attacker having started off as a midfielder.
Despite this, Klopp and Liverpool could be an ideal fit for Kudus this summer. And with Mount now on United’s radar, marking the Ajax talent as Plan B could be a great move in the long-term, with the Ghana superstar younger and cheaper than the Chelsea playmaker.
Liverpool should bin off Mount to move for Kudus this summer
With Chelsea fighting to keep hold of Mount and United now in the frame for the playmaker, Liverpool are taking blows from both sides in their bid to sign the 24-year-old, and as a result, moving for Kudus could be the better move given the circumstances.
Whilst the 22-year-old isn’t a natural midfield, experience in the position during his younger years as well as his natural versatility already makes Kudus an outstanding signing for Liverpool, with the Ghanaian able to cover two key areas of the pitch for Liverpool.
