Cody Gakpo has lauded Liverpool fans for the support they have given the Dutch international in his first season in the Premier League.
Speaking to the club’s official website, the 23-year-old winger was full of praise for Liverpool supporters, who have welcomed Gakpo with open arms after an impressive six months at the club having joined from PSV Eindhoven in the January window.
The attacker has been Jurgen Klopp’s main man up top in recent weeks in a run of form that has seen Liverpool remain unbeaten in their last 10. And with Roberto Firmino leaving, Gakpo is expected to reprise his role as the central figure in the front line.
Indeed, the Dutch international has taken to life in the Premier League like a duck to water, and when asked about the support he has received from Liverpool fans since signing, Gakpo could not speak highly enough about what he has seen in recent months.
Gakpo said when asked about the passion from Liverpool fans: “To be honest, it’s really amazing. The fans, I cannot describe them! They are with us even in the bad times and in the good times as well so I really appreciate all of them and let’s make the next season a better one.”

Gakpo’s rise with Liverpool has been a joy to watch, and Liverpool fans fully supporting the winger has more than helped in his settling to life in England, with next season already set to be a big one for the 23-year-old Holland superstar.
With Firmino leaving, Gakpo will be tasked with leading the attack alongside Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz, and the youngster knows that having the support from fans will be key in getting Liverpool back to the top of the English footballing pyramid.
