Ruben Neves gave an emotional goodbye to Wolves supporters on Saturday amid growing reports that Liverpool are interested in the 26-year-old midfielder.

As reported by the Athletic, the former FC Porto star was one of three players to applaud the Molineux crowd one last time, with Neves, alongside Adama Traore and Raul Jiminez, all expected to leave Wolves at the end of this season.

90min recently claimed that Liverpool are one of the many sides interested in signing Neves this summer, and the midfielder’s actions and emotions at Wolves this weekend after their 1-1 draw against Everton all-but confirmed that the Portuguese international will be off this summer.

With Liverpool in the market for at least three central midfielders, Neves could be a sensible signing for Jurgen Klopp’s side given his incredible wealth of Premier League experience as well as his impressive quality, with the Wolves man lauded for his passing range and long-range efforts.

Indeed, whilst the Reds could target a younger midfielder compared to Neves, Klopp might be open to having a slightly older player who is close to hitting their prime, and the Wolves star could relish in the opportunity to play for a club as big as Liverpool.

Neves might not be the world-class midfield signing that Liverpool fans are expecting this summer, yet based on his record in the Premier League, it’s hard to think why the Portuguese international would be a fail should he make the move to Anfield in the coming weeks.

As we know, Neves has been Wolves’ best player since their return to the top-flight, and at 26, the midfielder is close to hitting his peak, something that Liverpool could benefit from hugely in the coming seasons if Klopp can get the best out of the former Porto man.
