Gabriel Agbonlahor has labelled Liverpool’s season as a failure after their 1-1 draw against Aston Villa.
Speaking on TalkSport, the former Villain’s striker grilled Jurgen Klopp’s side for their result against Villa, with Liverpool all-but throwing away their hopes of a top-four finish with a draw at Anfield as Manchester United won against AFC Bournemouth.
A late Roberto Firmino strike clinched a result for the Reds, but with Erik Ten Hag’s United and Newcastle United now needing just one point from their final two games to confirm top-four, Liverpool’s UEFA Champions League dreams now look over.

Indeed, it was one of Liverpool’s most underwhelming performances of the season, and for Agbonlahor, the campaign as a whole has been a massive failure for Klopp’s side, who at the start of the term were one of the favourites for the title.
The pundit said when asked about how Jurgen Klopp’s side have performed overall this season: “This is a really, really bad season for Liverpool and the standards they’ve set. They’re 19 points behind Manchester City, who they pushed last season to the league.”
Villa draw won’t define Liverpool’s season as a failure in isolation

Liverpool’s season as a whole can be viewed by many as a failure, yet to pin the entire collapse on the Reds’ draw with Villa is a disservice to how good Klopp’s side have been in recent weeks, as well as Unai Emery’s work this year in Birmingham.
The Anfield giants took on one of the dark horses of the Premier League this year in Villa and came away with a point, and whilst top-four now looks out of the question, Liverpool know that this sole result hasn’t deemed their year as a failure.
