Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Jobe Bellingham is set to sign for Sunderland, with Liverpool missing out on the 17-year-old talent.
Taking to Twitter, the Italian journalist revealed that the Black Cats had won the race to sign Bellingham, with Liverpool now missing out on Jude’s younger brother having been heavily linked to both players in recent years.
The Mirror reported last year that the Birmingham City midfielder was on Liverpool’s radar as the Reds looked to swoop for both Jobe and Jude Bellingham. However, the Anfield side have now missed out on both players this summer.
With Jude heading to Real Madrid, Jobe will take his talents to the Stadium of Light with Sunderland, who this season made the Championship play-offs with one of the youngest squads in the division under Tony Mowbray.
Bellingham has made a smart choice in joining Sunderland over Liverpool

Bellingham junior has quite the career to live up to after the expectations set by his brother at Borussia Dortmund, yet whilst Liverpool would have been the more glamorous move, signing for Sunderland could prove to be an excellent decision from the Birmingham teenager.
As we know, Sunderland have been one of the surprise packages of the Championship this season after going all the way to the play-offs with a young squad, and if Mowbray stays with the Black Cats, Bellingham could develop quickly if given regular minutes on Tyneside.
Indeed, Liverpool could have been another good destination for Bellingham, yet with Jurgen Klopp keen to sign senior midfielders, there’s every chance that the English youth international would have got lost in the system despite his promising potential.
