Liverpool’s Diogo Jota was celebrating Portugal teammate Bernardo Silva last night, after an excellent Champions League display.
Silva was the City hero as they qualified for the final on Wednesday evening. Having scored his team’s opening two goals of the night against Real Madrid, Bernardo set Pep Guardiola’s side well on their way to a 4-0 win.
The 28-year-old acknowledged his part on a great night for City with an Instagram post after the game.

And perhaps surprisingly given the rivalry between their two clubs, Jota could be spotted in amongst the comments. “Goleador,” wrote Liverpool’s No.20 with a ‘hearts in eyes’ emoji.
Obviously, we’re happy you’re happy for your mate Diogo, but we’re simply not going to get behind City getting to the final, sorry!
Bernardo fires City to Istanbul
As Liverpool’s rivalry with City has grown over the years, one feature has been how close the two sets of players are.
In Jota and Silva’s case, they are clearly international teammates. This doesn’t necessarily mean they have to be big friends, but it seems they are. That’s fine, obviously.
Other players like Kevin De Bruyne and Virgil van Dijk are close too though, and Jota is unlikely to have been the only player celebrating a friend’s success last night.

But from our point of view, we know exactly who we’ll be backing the final.
All signs are pointing towards City and Pep Guardiola ending their long wait for a Champions League title. Amazing what you can do when you throw a couple of billion at team isn’t it?
But it isn’t over yet. Simone Inzaghi is notorious in Italy for being pretty much a master in the cups. He guided an unfancied Lazio to the Coppa Italia in 2019 and repeated the trick with Inter last year. This year he’s taken the Nerazzurri to the final again, as well booking a date with City in Istanbul.
As we well know, a Champions League final in Istanbul hasn’t ended well for a side from Milan in the past. But Inter fans would have been celebrating Liverpool that day, and we’ll hope that we’re able to celebrate them this time around. Forza Inter!
