Former reported Liverpool target Otavio could be back on the market this summer, with Porto open to letting him leave.
The Reds were heavily linked with a move for Otavio last year. In June, reports went as far as saying that the 28-year-old’s agents were on their way to Merseyside in order to hammer out a deal with Liverpool.
In the end, that never happened. But should they try again this year, it seems they may have more luck. That’s because, according to A Bola, the sale of Otavio ‘isn’t ruled out’ this summer.

With a release clause set at around £52m, it seems that Porto won’t stand in the way of any club who trigger that. With that in mind, it’s claimed that Otavio’s club are aware that he ‘has a market’ in England, Spain, Italy, France and Germany. Clubs in Saudi Arabia are also said to be ‘probing’ the forward’s agent with a view to a move.
Otavio is still reportedly an ‘indispensable’ member of Sergio Conceicao’s squad, but is seemingly on the market regardless.
Otavio finally ready to move on
Otavio to Liverpool seemed liked a strange potential transfer when he was being linked last year. But as an additional, back-up forward in Roberto Firmino’s absence, maybe the Portugal international would be worth a go.
Not at £52m, though. That’s simply too high-a fee to pay for a player who’ll turn twenty-nine next year. It’s also far more than Liverpool would ever pay for a back-up.

But the links were there to such an extent last year, that maybe there really was some truth to them.
Liverpool are well-known to be scourers of the Portuguese market. If they’ve identified Otavio as a player who could really be of use to them, then who knows?
Certainly, the Porto man has quality. He’s been a consistent performer for years now, with another 12 goal contributions to his name this season.
Although a move to one of Europe’s bigger leagues has always looked on the cusp of happening, it never quite has.
With Porto now supposedly ready to cash-in on him though, maybe it’s Otavio’s time. But unless something drastic happens, we can probably rule Liverpool out.
