FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has stated that Ansu Fati will remain at the club this summer despite recent reports linking the winger with a move to Liverpool.
Speaking to TV3 via Be Soccer, the La Liga official revealed that no plans are in place to sell the Spanish international despite Fati enduring a difficult season under Xavi Hernandez, with the Barcelona manager viewing the youngster as more of a squad player than a starter.
As a result, rumours have been heating up that Fati could leave Barcelona this summer, with Ben Jacobs reporting in February that Liverpool are interested in signing the £60m-winger. Though this move now looks dead and buried following Laporta’s latest comments.

The Barcelona president said when asked about Fati’s future at the end of this season: “Right now, he’s training, when he’s fit, he’ll be training a lot more and Xavi put him on to play almost the whole of the last game.
“He’s someone we count on and it’s the technical staff who will decide what will happen with Ansu next season. He’s a Barcelona player, we love him and he’s a player with a lot of quality and he’s part of the team. I know he wants to succeed at Barca, we’ll see how it goes.”
Fati staying at Barcelona is a great move despite Liverpool interest

Liverpool could have been the club to get the best out of Fati, yet with the winger being regarded as a symbol for Barcelona despite his poor season, the attacker remaining in Catalonia is a smart idea from all parties involved.
As we know, Fati will likely return to the starting XI next season, and with Xavi seemingly a fan of the youngster as well as Laporta, Barcelona seem ready to finally use the wonderkid to the best of his abilities, much to the dismay of Liverpool.
