Roberto Firmino will reportedly be one of five players to say goodbye to Liverpool fans at Anfield this Saturday, with the Brazilian international leaving the club at the end of this season.
According to the Athletic, the 31-year-old attacker, alongside James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Arthur Melo, will all bid farewell to the Merseyside giants this weekend after their final home fixture of the season against Aston Villa.
Whilst the likes of Milner and Oxlade-Chamberlain have played key roles for the Reds over the years, Firmino’s goodbye will no doubt hit the hardest for supporters, with the attacker one of the most beloved figures at the club and one of Liverpool’s best signings in recent years.
Signed in 2015, Firmino was the spearhead in the now-famous front-three consisting of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah that led Liverpool to the 2019 UEFA Champions League and the 2020 Premier League title, and the Brazilian’s absence will be felt.
Indeed, Anfield is due to be an emotional occasion this weekend with five players saying goodbye, yet for Firmino, the Brazilian will likely receive the biggest ovation of all given his incredible impact at the club over the last eight years.
