Pat Nevin has suggested that Declan Rice would be a more suitable fit for Liverpool this summer over the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.

Speaking on Off The Ball, the pundit tipped Liverpool to be a perfect club for the West Ham captain amid growing rumours that the England international will be on the move at the end of this season, with the Reds one of the clubs interested in Rice.

With BBC Sport reporting that West Ham want as much as £120m for the Premier League superstar, there is a good chance that Rice could become the most expensive signing in the division’s history, and for Nevin, Liverpool could be perfect for the 24-year-old.

The former Scotland international said on Rice’s future: “There would be a massive temptation, just from what we know, we don’t know everything because if Man United say they’re going to get four or five others, you’d think that was the one.

“He looks a perfect fit for Liverpool, he’d suit there, his style of play would suit there. He’d add the energy that is fading away from that team. Chelsea will be in there, but I don’t know about that one. You never know, but the temptation, if I wasn’t a supporter of anyone else, I would be very close to Liverpool.”

Rice is perfect for Liverpool though price tag is simply too high

Rice is easily one of the most complete midfielders in the Premier League, with the West Ham star ready for the next step in his career with a move to one of the biggest sides in the division, and whilst Liverpool are perfect for the England international, the price tag is simply too high for the Reds.

As we know, finances are the sole reason why Liverpool pulled out for a deal with Jude Bellingham, and with Rice valued as highly than the Real Madrid-bound midfielder, a deal for the West Ham skipper seems impossible given the numbers that are being touted around.
