Youri Tielemans was slammed by local media after the Leicester City midfielder’s performance against Liverpool, with the Reds linked with a move for the 26-year-old.
As per Leicestershire Live, the Belgian international was handed a pitiful 3/10 rating for his woeful display on Monday night, with Tielemans slammed for his lack of balance and inability to press Liverpool’s midfield or defence.
The article wrote: He kept slipping over, meaning he was not much use in the first half. And in a more advanced position, he didn’t press, nor could his vision be put to good use. When he did drop deeper, his passes didn’t find their mark.
With Football Transfers recently reporting that Liverpool are interested in signing Tielemans as a free-agent, the Merseyside club could now have second-thoughts on the midfielder after his performance at the King Power Stadium this week.
Indeed, Tielemans’ lack of performances this season have seemingly pushed the Foxes into the battle for relegation, and with Dean Smith’s side now looking down the barrel, the Belgian could find himself in a position where he could struggle to sign for a new club this summer.
Liverpool should avoid Tielemans at all costs in the market
Tielemans was once viewed as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League, yet with the former AS Monaco star having a season to forget with Leicester, Liverpool should be actively looking to avoid signing the Belgian international this summer.
Although central midfield is a key position for Liverpool in the market, Jurgen Klopp’s side could do a lot better than Tielemans, and the 26-year-old’s performance on Monday could be more than enough to prove that the Reds shouldn’t make a move for the Foxes star.
