Jamie Vardy has said Liverpool were the better team in their 3-0 win against Leicester City, with the Reds seemingly dooming the Foxes to Premier League relegation.
Speaking to the club’s official Twitter account, the 36-year-old striker delivered an honest assessment on Liverpool’s performance against Leicester, with Curtis Jones scoring twice in the first half as Trent Alexander-Arnold secured the three points with a fine set-piece routine.
Vardy said on Liverpool’s performance: “If you ask anyone did the better team win tonight? Yes. It’s more disappointing about how we’ve probably conceded the goals. Like I said, the first 25, 30 minutes, we’ve created some (chances) ourselves. We were on the front foot and something changed after 30 minutes”
Liverpool’s result sent Jurgen Klopp’s side just one point off the top-four, and given the nature of the win and Anfield side’s incredible run of form, there’s a strong chance that the Reds could sneak in and swipe a UEFA Champions League spot at the final moment.
Indeed, Liverpool made Leicester look silly for most of the match at the King Power Stadium, and Vardy’s assessment of the match could not have hit the nail on the head harder for Klopp’s side, who deserved the three points.
Vardy knows Leicester were never a match for Liverpool in 3-0 loss
Leicester knew that this was their last chance to salvage anything ahead of the final two games of the season that will define their Premier League destiny, yet as Vardy states, Liverpool were simply too good on the night for the Foxes to get anything.
3-0 was a credible scoreline for the visiting side as they took one big step to an unlikely Champions League spot, and for Leicester, relegation is now staring down at them in what could be one of the biggest shocks of the entire season.
