Kostas Tsimikas has suggested that he has struggled this season with Liverpool and has placed doubts over himself as a footballer after spending the majority of the campaign on the bench.
Speaking to Gazzetta, the Greek international revealed the issues the defender has experienced this year in a campaign that has seen Tsimikas hardly feature for Liverpool, with Andy Robertson remaining injury-free and keeping his spot at left-back.
Having became a hero on Merseyside last season after scoring the winning penalty in the FA Cup final, Tsimikas has now expressed the doubts he has had about himself over his lack of playing time, with the £12m signing from Olympiakos in 2020 eager to return to the Liverpool starting XI.

Tsimikas said on his problems this season: “This is very difficult for me. Because many times I come here happy, full, ready to give everything. I go out on the field, I give everything and in the end I don’t play and that’s not easy. I understand, we are 22 players, we can’t all play.
“It’s very difficult and people can’t understand it, because people only see how much money the footballer gets, what a life he leads and all this. For me this is the most difficult, at times you have to come to terms with some situations that make you feel very disadvantaged.”
Tsimikas still has major role to play in Liverpool’s future

As a backup player, it’s easy to see why Tsimikas is losing grip with his place in the Liverpool squad, yet with the Reds crashing out early in domestic cup competitions and in Europe this season, it makes sense why the defender has hardly featured.
However, with likely to be in the UEFA Europa League next campaign, there’s a real chance that Tsimikas will be given the chance to feature regularly for Liverpool, with Klopp clearly a big fan of the defender if he is yet to put the 27-year-old up for sale.
