Liverpool could reportedly make a move to sign Leicester City star James Maddison, with the England international expected to leave the Foxes this summer.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, the 26-year-old playmaker is wanted by Liverpool as the Reds look to add to their midfield this summer, with a move for Maddison now on the table amid fellow interest in the Leicester man from the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham.
Hailed as a ‘world class’ player by Liverpool youngster Leighton Clarkson, Maddison has enjoyed a fantastic season in the Premier League despite Leicester’s misfortunes this campaign, with the Foxes facing Liverpool on Monday night in a fixture that could determine their top-flight status.

And the match could now have more added significance with Liverpool potentially interested in making a move for Maddison, who would be an incredible addition for the Reds in the transfer window under Jurgen Klopp’s management and in his system.
Bailey said on Liverpool’s interest: “Sources close to the player insist there are a number of clubs showing an interest. We know Tottenham have always been big fans and remain so, whilst I wouldn’t rule out Liverpool coming in for him. This is not a done deal in terms of where he is going to go, far from it.”
Liverpool should view Maddison as a backup option for the summer

With Alexis Mac Allister close to signing for Liverpool and the likes of Mason Mount and Manuel Ugarte high up on Klopp’s transfer list, Maddison could be viewed as an ideal backup option for the Merseyside giants if they miss out on key targets in the market.
Indeed, Maddison has proven himself as one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and a player who could thrive for a top-six side, and for Liverpool, the Leicester talisman could be an ideal plan B if other targets like Mount and Ugarte are unobtainable.
