Journalist delivers major Liverpool transfer update on Alexis Mac Allister

Liverpool are reportedly inching closer to signing Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Alexis Mac Allister, with the Argentine international set to sign a contract until 2028.

According to journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, the Anfield side are advancing ‘more and more’ to securing a deal for Mac Allister, who is looking likely to become Liverpool’s first signing ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Liverpool for quite some time, and despite interest from other clubs, Liverpool now look to have won the race to sign Mac Allister, who could be one of two midfield additions for the Reds this summer.

Sporting Lisbon youngster Manuel Ugarte has been heavily linked with a move to Liverpool this week, whilst the likes of Moises Caicedo and Chelsea’s Mason Mount remain other options for Jurgen Klopp, though it appears that the Argentine will be the first arrival in the window.

Klopp has already stated that he wants transfer business done as early as possible this summer, and Liverpool securing Mac Allister’s signature potentially before the season is even over would be an incredible piece of news for supporters and the club.

The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the most exciting midfielders in the Premier League this season, and Liverpool signing Mac Allister so early will be huge for Klopp’s plan to rebuild the Reds during pre-season training.
