Liverpool scouts were in attendance to watch Montpellier striker Elye Wahi score four times against Lyon on Sunday.
Despite hitting a quadruple, the 20-year-old was somehow on the wring side of a remarkable 5-4 last weekend. Lyon’s Alexander Lacazette matched Wahi by scoring four times, including burying a last-minute penalty to secure the points.
But that didn’t detract from just how good Wahi had been. And according to France Bleu Herault, as relayed by Made In Monegasque, Liverpool scouts were there to see it all.

Predictably though, they weren’t the only ones. Talent spotters from as many as seven other sides were reportedly in attendance to watch Montpellier’s latest revelation. Wahi will reportedly have his pick when leaving La Paillade.
When that times comes, the young forward is reportedly leaning more towards the idea of a move to England or Germany.
Liverpool watch Wahi masterclass
What a game Wahi had on Sunday. Four goals mean he now has 17 to his name in this season’s Ligue 1 season. Having only turned twenty in January, that’s pretty amazing.
Furthermore, the youngster also bagged 10 last season, when he was still a teenager. No wonder he’s got scouts from all over the continent coming to watch him. Inevitably, this will lead to a big hike in his price.
In quotes from the piece in Made In Monegasque, Montpellier manager Michel Der Zakarian claims that Wahi won’t be sold for less than £26m.

That doesn’t sound like a bad price for a player who’s hit thirty senior league goals long before turning twenty-one.
Right now, Liverpool aren’t really in need of adding to their forward line. But as ever they’ll be scouting and monitoring any player who catches their eye, regardless of position.
In that respect, Lyon’s epic win over Montpellier on Sunday was noteworthy for another reason, too. As well as Wahi, the Reds have been reported as being on the trail of Lyon’s Bradley Barcola.
If they were in attendance on Sunday, they’ll have seen the 20-year-old register three assists for his team. A successful scouting trip by the sounds of it, then!
