Borussia Dortmund reportedly want Jude Bellingham as soon as possible in order to recoup the funds to sign the midfielder’s replacement, with Liverpool target Gabri Veiga on their radar.

According to Sport Bild, the Celta Vigo wonderkid is one player Dortmund are eyeing as a replacement for Bellingham, though the German giants first must secure the finances from selling the England international to Real Madrid before making a move for Veiga.

Journalist Javier Rubiano recently reported that Liverpool could be the favourites to sign the 20-year-old La Liga talent, who can leave this summer for just €40m (£34m) due to the midfielder’s release clause, yet Dortmund could now be on course to beat the Reds to Veiga.

With Madrid set to secure a deal for Bellingham before the window opens, Dortmund could soon be in the money to make a move for Veiga, a transfer that could leave Liverpool fuming given how strongly linked Jurgen Klopp’s side have been linked with the Spanish youth international.

Indeed, Veiga has enjoyed a breakout season in La Liga with nine goals and four assists for Celta, and for Liverpool, losing out on another top target via Dortmund’s influence could be a major blow, especially when you factor in that the midfielder could join through the sale of Bellingham.

Dortmund pricing Liverpool out of a move for Bellingham has already caused major problems for Klopp’s summer plans this year, and the Black and Yellow signing Veiga would add some extra salt in the wounds for the Reds, who could have been perfect for the Spanish youngster.

A goalscoring midfielder is exactly what Liverpool need in their squad for next season, and Dortmund beating the Anfield side to the punch would be more embarrassment for the Merseyside given their recent blow over bringing Bellingham back to England.
