Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly now ready to consider offers for wonderkid midfielder Moises Caicedo, a player Liverpool are believed to be interested in.
According to 90min, the Seagulls are reluctant to let the Ecuador international leave this summer, though an offer of £80m could be tempting to let Caicdeo leave Brighton, with Liverpool a club who have recently watched the 21-year-old in action.
With the Reds the favourites to sign Caicedo’s teammate in Alexis Mac Allister, Liverpool could soon see their midfield transform into the bulk of Brighton’s engine room for next season, with Jurgen Klopp keen to sign at least two top-quality figures for the role this summer.
Given the midfielder’s age and incredible potential, Caicedo could be as exciting a signing as Mac Allister if the South American hits the ground running at Anfield, yet with Brighton eager to keep hold of the youngster, Liverpool might have to go all-out to sign the 21-year-old.
Indeed, with Mac Allister also expected to leave Brighton for Liverpool as things currently stand, the Seagulls will be well within their right to increase their asking price for Caicedo, which could realistically tick over the £100m mark given how good the midfielder is and the funds the Reds might have to spend.
Liverpool should err on the side of caution when pursuing Caicedo
Caicedo has all the qualities to become one of the best midfielders in the world based on his first full season with Brighton this campaign, yet for Liverpool, the Merseyside giants have to ensure they’re getting a good deal out of the Seagulls for the Ecuadorian, with a bidding war the last thing the club needs.
With Mac Allister inching closer to a move to Liverpool, adding Caicedo could be a battle not worth fighting for the Reds this summer, and even with the midfielder’s profile and age being perfect for Klopp, the German manager should be wise to not get suck into paying over the odds for the 21-year-old.
