Liverpool are reportedly set to make an opening offer to sign Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte, who is expected to leave Portugal for the Premier League this summer.
According to Record, the Reds will soon come forward with their first proposal for the Uruguay international amid growing links from Portugal on Ugarte, with the midfielder seemingly one of the many midfielders Liverpool are looking at signing.
The 21-year-old has been one of the breakout talents of the 2022/23 season with Sporting, and Liverpool are now seemingly ready to test the waters this week with an opening offer to sign Ugarte, who has a release clause of €60m (£53m).
Labelled by Breaking The Lines as a ‘highly aggressive’ midfielder, Ugarte could be viewed by those at Anfield as a long-term replacement for Fabinho, with the South American enjoying a fine campaign with Sporting as well as impressing for Uruguay at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Indeed, Ugarte has shown he has the quality and the potential to thrive in the Premier League, and for Liverpool, the midfielder could be the perfect Fabinho replacement in the years to come based on his style of play and his impressive development with Sporting this term.
Liverpool signing Ugarte could be a fantastic deal this summer
Ugarte ticks a lot of boxes for what Liverpool fans should expect in a midfield signing this summer, and with the Reds now expected to make an opening offer soon, the Uruguay international could be a fantastic addition at Anfield in the transfer window.
Aged just 21 and still very much developing, Ugarte has done a lot already at Sporting to warrant the interest the midfielder is currently experiencing, and Liverpool should be looking to wrap up a deal for the youngster as soon as possible ahead of the new season.
