Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly interested in signing Caoimhin Kelleher, with the Seagulls looking to bring in a second Liverpool player after James Milner.

According to the Irish Independent, the south coast Premier League side are one of three clubs chasing Kelleher, with Tottenham and Brentford also in the mix to sign the 24-year-old goalkeeper, who looks set to leave Liverpool this summer.

Kelleher has been Liverpool’s main backup goalkeeper for the best part of three seasons, yet with the Republic of Ireland international now at a stage of his career where he should be playing regular football, a move away from Anfield is looking increasingly likely.

And Brighton are now interested in Kelleher, with Roberto De Zerbi’s interest coming after the Italian manager seemingly wrapped up a deal to bring Milner to the Amex Stadium this summer as a free agent, with the Liverpool midfielder due to leave at the end of his contract.

Indeed, with De Zerbi keen to put in his own man between the sticks at Brighton, Kelleher could be an ideal option for the Seagulls, especially if they end the season with European qualification, a factor that could appeal to the Liverpool shot-stopper this summer.

Kelleher is aware that a departure from Liverpool is needed this summer if he is to get his career up and running, and a move to Brighton as their new no. 1 could be an excellent move for the Cork-born keeper, especially if they qualify for Europe.

It has been a dream season for the Seagulls under De Zerbi, and whilst European qualification for next season is far from confirmed, Brighton are on the right path to continental football, and Kelleher would be foolish to turn down the Amex side if they do the unthinkable and finish in the top-seven.
