Liverpool are hoping to sign Youri Tielemans this summer, as they look to bulk out their midfield.

Football Transfers reports that Tielemans is one of Liverpool’s key targets, as they look to sign him alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Mason Mount.

And if the transfer goes ahead it may be one which makes Gary Neville jealous – which can only make things more appealing!

It was back in 2019 when Neville was urging Manchester United to make a move for Tielemans, even at £40 million – as the Metro reports

Admittedly, Tielemans’ star may have fallen slightly over the last three years – as he is no longer the 22-year-old prospect who Neville wanted to be snapped up.

But on a free transfer, he could still be a very impressive addition to Liverpool’s midfield.

The Leicester City man has great technique and would surely help Liverpool in terms of retaining possession.

If he could be surrounded by more defensively savvy players and better runners, his passing and shooting ability could certainly be valuable.

What makes the Tielemans transfer look even better is the fact that he is available on a free transfer.

The Belgian international, who has been described as ‘incredible, appears to have no desire to extend his contract with Leicester, meaning that interested parties can bag him without having to pay a fee this summer.

Neville is far from the only Sky pundit to praise Tielemans over the years either.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has already tipped him to leave this summer, as he feels he has become a ‘Champions League’ ready player

Jamie Redknapp once said that Liverpool should do everything they can to sign Tielemans.

Micah Richards, meanwhile, was talking up the deep-lying playmaker to be in the ‘form of his life’ only last year

If he does come to Liverpool he could form part of a very new-look Liverpool midfield, which Jurgen Klopp will hope can inspire the Reds to be back challenging for the title once again, after a rather disappointing campaign this time around.
