Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Liverpool have now presented a financial proposal to Alexis MacAllister.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano had the very latest update on Liverpool’s transfer dealings last night – and it was a positive one.

The football journalist suggested that Jurgen Klopp’s side are now really pushing to wrap up a deal for the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder.

Liverpool have now told MacAllister exactly what he will be paid at Anfield and also given him some idea over what Jurgen Klopp wants from him.

Romano said: “What Liverpool did in the last few days is that Liverpool are advancing on the player’s side.

“They have presented the financial proposal to the player, they have presented the project to the player, what they want to do the future, what Jurgen Klopp wants to do.

“Now it is up to MacAllister. Liverpool are advancing but it’s not a done deal. Liverpool are the front-runners for sure.”

MacAllister to Liverpool?

This one looks like a particularly exciting deal.

There is no questioning that failing to sign Jude Bellingham is a disappointment, but MacAllister’s arrival could soften that blow somewhat.

The Brighton midfielder raised his profile even further last week, by scoring a last minute winner against Manchester United, but anybody who has watched him this year has recognised his quality.

MacAllister has been one of the standout midfielders in the Premier League and was a key man as Argentina won the World Cup over the winter.

His stamina and running stats obviously make him a fit for Liverpool, but it would be unfair to just describe MacAllister as a runner.

He is a really tenacious battler and also possesses great technical quality.

The 24-year-old’s all-round ability makes him look like an ideal addition to this Liverpool side.

And even if the Reds have to fork out £70 million for his signature, which looks likely at this stage, this is deal which should be celebrated if it goes ahead.
