Gary Neville insists that Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is unquestionably in the ‘world class’ bracket of players.
Speaking on the Gary Neville podcast, Neville hailed Salah after he scored his 100th goal at Anfield this weekend.
Salah was typically predatory in the box, as he scored the winner for Liverpool against Brentford on Saturday.
His landmark goal may not have been the most pretty, but it once again highlighted his strike instincts, as he forcefully pushed the ball beyond David Raya to bring up three figures for goals at Anfield.
Salah has also broken a Premier League record, becoming the first player to ever score in nine consecutive home games.
And Neville couldn’t resist waxing lyrical about Liverpool’s £34 million Egyptian king yesterday on his podcast.
He said: “He’s always there. He’s resilient, he plays every match and that’s a really good thing, consistently and reliability over a long period of time and then you marry that with high performance and excellence and then you have a world class player and that’s what we have in Mo Salah.
“I have gone past the time of thinking ultimately he was a one season wonder. How can he repeat it? He has just repeated it and repeated it, he’s done it and he’s done it, he’s got close to Balon D’or. He’s been exceptional, he really has.
“And, yeah, he’s suffered this season at times in games like others have in Liverpool’s team because they haven’t been at their best collectively, it was tough for them but he’s there, he scores the goal, he’s hungry and he nearly kicked the goalkeeper over the line with the ball.
“It hasn’t been his best season but when you’re not at your best and your team is not at its best and you can still score 30 goals, you can still give yourself a pat on the back.”
Mo Salah – a Liverpool legend

Nothing Neville says here is entirely groundbreaking – but it is always nice to read the praise of Salah.
The 30-year-old will surely go down as one of Liverpool’s greatest ever goalscorer and his form is showing no signs of slowing.
For Salah to have racked up 30 goals this term is some achievement, considering the faults in this Reds’ side that have been exposed at times this term.
Liverpool now feel like a team in transition heading into next season. But it is already a certainty that come the first game of the 2023/24 campaign, Jurgen Klopp will be planning to have Salah in his attack, regardless of how many signings are made this summer.
