Ansu Fati’s father has insisted that the Spanish international will remain at FC Barcelona this summer despite growing interest from the likes of Liverpool.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Bori Fati told reporters that he is convinced that the 20-year-old winger will remain in Catalonia this summer, with Fati’s father telling the press when asked if the attacker will stay: “Will Ansu stays at Barcelona? Yes, yes, very sure. We are very happy.”
Sport reported this week that an unnamed Premier League club had made an offer to sign Fati, with speculation suggesting that the team could have been Liverpool given their historic interest in the Barcelona wonderkid across the years.
However, despite the Reds already having an obscene amount of attacking depth, Liverpool’s quest to sign Fati could be over already following on from these latest comments from the player’s father, which strongly suggest that no move will happen this summer.
Indeed, Fati has endured a rough season under Xavi Hernandez that has seen the youngster play second-fiddle to the likes of Ferran Torres, Gavi and Raphinha, though with the trio all linked with moves away, the winger could soon become a starter in the new season.
Liverpool have to pack in Fati pursuit after father’s comments
Fati was always going to be an ambitious target for Liverpool, and comments from the player’s father should now all-but confirm that the winger’s future at Barcelona, a club that will arguably get the best out of the attacker in the years to come.
Whilst Jurgen Klopp could have worked wonders on Fati, some players are just suited to Barcelona, with the La Masia wonderkid exactly the sort of talent who will flourish at his boyhood club if given time hy Xavi next season to show his quality.
