An unnamed Premier League side are preparing a big offer for reported Liverpool target Ansu Fati.

Fati has been speculatively named as a potential target for the Reds in the upcoming summer transfer window. And according to Sport, the 20-year-old is on the transfer list on Camp Nou.

Desperate to balance the books, they claim that Barcelona want Fati to leave. As a result, they will reportedly be happy to listen to offers for the Spain international in the coming months.

To that end, Barca are said to have been reassured that a bid is on the way by Fati’s agent, Jorge Mendes. The super agent is claimed to have told Barca that ‘when the time comes’ a Premier League side will offer £62m.

There’s no information given on what club this could be at this stage. It’s also claimed that it’s ‘unknown’ whether Fati himself will agree to leave.

Fati not a priority for Liverpool

At the moment, adding another attacker to the squad is right at the bottom of Jurgen Klopp’s priorities. Perhaps next summer with Mohamed Salah 12 months older and a year away from the end of his deal will be the time for that.

But right now, midfield is clearly at the top of Liverpool’s agenda. Beyond that, they could do with another centre-back, maybe a right-back and almost certainly a back-up ‘keeper or two.

Having said that, it isn’t every day a talent like Fati becomes available. Although he’s had a career beset by injury so far, the youngster is still a huge prospect. You don’t hand Lionel Messi’s famous No.10 Barcelona shirt to just any old guy.

According to reports, the prospect of making such a signing has appealed to Liverpool. The ever reliable Fabrizio Romano even claimed that the Reds have already held talks with Fati’s agents over a potential move to Anfield.

If talks are to go much further though, you’d expect the price may have to come down a little. £62m might represent value on Fati to some extent, but Barca are in no place to make demands.

Their position in the market has been weakened by a very public need to raise funds. If Liverpool can wait them out and bring the price down, Fati could be an interesting addition. But not at the expense of other targets.
