Jurgen Klopp has admitted that Luis Diaz has got weaker recently as a result of his six-month-long injury, though the Liverpool manager was impressed with the winger’s performance on Sunday.
Speaking to the press via Liverpool’s official YouTube channel, the German coach revealed that the Colombian international has lost some of his strength having spent the majority of the season out on the injury table, with Diaz making his first start of 2023 against Tottenham.
The forward marked his return with a goal to put Liverpool 2-0 up in what was to be an incredible 4-3 win for the Merseyside giants, yet despite Klopp being impressed with what he saw from Diaz, the Reds manager is aware that the forward has lost some of his power.

Indeed, whilst Diaz will likely return to his physical best over the upcoming summer, it is noticeable that Klopp has said that the forward has lost some of his strength, the Colombian yet to shake off the worst of his serious knee injury.
Klopp said on Diaz getting weaker: “What a goal. Great, super, It was a really nice watch and we, hopefully, gave him enough time to do everything to settle. He started really well in training and after a long-term injury his power level has decreased slightly, he lacked the sharpness and that’s when we just let him be and get through this.”
Diaz will no doubt return to his best this summer after Klopp’s comments

Any player would feel weaker after spending the best part of six months out on the sidelines, and for Diaz, the 26-year-old can start making his return to full-strength for the new season after Klopp’s comments this afternoon, with this summer a big one for the Colombian.
The attacker looks set to become an integral part of Liverpool’s plans for next term, and with Diaz now back to full fitness, it might not take long for the South American to return to his best after a strong finish to the current season and a summer spent in the gym.
