Jurgen Klopp has praised Luis Diaz after his goal for Liverpool against Tottenham Hotspur yesterday.

Speaking on BeIN Sports, Klopp eulogised over his returning Colombian winger, after his excellent performance at Anfield.

Diaz had put Liverpool into a 2-0 lead when he flicked home a cut back from Cody Gakpo in the early stages of the contest.

It was a really well taken finish, with the pass slightly behind him.

And Klopp said he was delighted with how Liverpool created the goal in his post match interview, with Diaz’s movement earning particular praise.

He said: “Brilliant play. The situation and how we played it and how Cody brings the ball back and how Lucho arrives in that area, absolutely outstanding.”

The strike showed exactly what Liverpool have been missing for so much of this season.

While the Reds’ problems haven’t largely been in attack, there is no doubting they are a more menacing team when Diaz is fit.

The 26-year-old still isn’t quite managing to last for 90 minutes, but he has wasted no time in getting back up to speed.

It has taken Diaz just four games to get back on the scoresheet after his time out and he is looking sharper and sharper.

There is an argument to suggest that he could be on the bench in Liverpool’s next game, which comes against Fulham in midweek though.

Klopp will surely not want to take any chances with Diaz, and given that Diogo Jota got the winning goal, it may be that he finds himself rotated on Wednesday evening.
